I use a fishman BP-100 through a fishman Pro-EQ platinum bass preamp. I've never had any problems with it. I've played through PA's, my amp head (ampeg svt-4) and a fishman loudbox mini. I know it's not the best pick up, but it certainly isn't terrible. I would try using a preamp to help...
