I don't have any issue with the shape but I think it's dumb that the endorsing artist's name is larger than the brand name. Feels like the Sire brand is established enough now that they don't need to lean on the Marcus MIller name so much now.

I've never noticed this problem but I've never used the MXR phaser. I've used the MojohandFX Mister-O, the Spaceman Explorer, and the EQD Grand Orbiter. They all sounded good to me. I generally just use a phase setting in my Source Audio Spectrum or C4 but those standalone phasers work well...

It's a joke. There's no bass in the song.

Sounds like you're either not slapping the strings in the correct spot or you're not muting properly. Both of those can lead to muddy, undefined slap tones. Things like compression and HPF help, too, but they only make good technique sound better and can't make bad technique sound good.
