I happened to buy a used Renegade P/J style bass for really cheap, like $150 and was blown away by it`s decent quality and sound. I've been curious to try P/J for a long time and this is it! It has that barking but deep sound on bridge J pickup, and sounds very close to Precision on P pickup...

Sounds cool on video. As with any good Tobias, it provides good fundamental, keeping good clarity of the tone at the same time. I feel this effect every time I play my Pre-gib.

Yeah, Marcus` technique and clear sound are what appeal me the most, besides his music. He just knows how to make any bass sound great. By the way, did anyone notice that he had his E string dropped to D...This gave him a possibilty to use this nice ostinato style for the lower voice

Great topic. I suppose the difference between live and studio basses is in their mid frequency range. Great "live" bass must have rather nasty, strong upper-mids (800-2000 Hz) to cut through the mix. Great studio bass should not necessarily have this high-mid hump as an engineer can compensate...
