Ever heard of a Renegade bass?

I happened to buy a used Renegade P/J style bass for really cheap, like $150 and was blown away by it`s decent quality and sound. I've been curious to try P/J for a long time and this is it! It has that barking but deep sound on bridge J pickup, and sounds very close to Precision on P pickup...

SOLD Vintage Tobias 5 Designed for Faith Hill

Sounds cool on video. As with any good Tobias, it provides good fundamental, keeping good clarity of the tone at the same time. I feel this effect every time I play my Pre-gib.

Marcus Solo on a Vintage Sire V7

Yeah, Marcus` technique and clear sound are what appeal me the most, besides his music. He just knows how to make any bass sound great. By the way, did anyone notice that he had his E string dropped to D...This gave him a possibilty to use this nice ostinato style for the lower voice

School bus driver: Perfect job for a weekend warrior?

We went to New York last autumn with my GF. Flew to JFK and took the shuttle bus to Manhattan. While we were waiting for other passengers to fill up the bus, the driver started to amuse us. He walked the aisle back and forth, joking, giving a short speech on New York landmarks in a humorous...

    Studio vs gig basses

Great topic. I suppose the difference between live and studio basses is in their mid frequency range. Great "live" bass must have rather nasty, strong upper-mids (800-2000 Hz) to cut through the mix. Great studio bass should not necessarily have this high-mid hump as an engineer can compensate...

    Interface for quiet practice

For practice I recommend VOX Umplug bass. I`ve been using it A LOT for a whole year, and cannot imagine my practice routine without it. This small handy gadget has a headphone output, line input (so you can put the signal from your smartphone or computer with 3.5 mm - 3.5mm cable) and even...

SOLD Aria Pro-II RSB Deluxe 5 string 1984 w SB-900 Electronics Matsumoku MIJ

Interesting. The concept of "heel-less" neck and the very form of the body are kind of close to early Mike Tobias basses. Even the "drop-shoulder' pickups reminds of those old Bartolini`s...Is it accidentally? ;) BTW, I played something very similar to this model (may be, SB-R150) about 10...
