Took apart my bass after two trips to the shop in the same day and have decided to fix it up myself. Would it be best to rewire everything? What type of wire should I buy? Or should I replace everything (pickups, volume pots [?], and knobs?)s Want to use this bass as a learning too for bass...

Yessir, bought the equipment yesterday. Just asking what would be best. As the last guy who “fixed” it everything tangled up and outta place I was thinking of changing it all as some spots are short and look like they’re hanging for their life

I have taken the pick guard off and just seen that one of the wires for the p pick ups is not connected, would it be wise to take everything out and put in new wires all throughout? Or should I reuse the wires it has now?

That’s the move, will fix my old one and save up!

Have had many people offer help and will eventually get on it, been busy due to work. The issue at first was a snapped wire to the p pickup knob, got it fixed then went to test and now my J pick ups don’t work. Will try to replace the whole wiring unit to learn how and to make sure it is all...

Bought a soldering kit and will attempt to fix it till it’s up and running like a champ. I want to have to so I can play one and one to operate and learn to fix (the broken one). Once I learn I will begin to add new pickups and what not as its my first bass and want it to sound and look the best

An Affinity series(?) a young crazy, all stock but will keep it to learn how to operate on it in case I have an issue with a new one

Plan on getting into working on basses with my broken one when I get a new one. To use as a learning experience in case something goes wrong so I can fix it myself.

Am going to check out two basses tomorrow. Deciding between Squire J bass and a P style Ibanez. Currently have a P/J squire but is only working as a P bass till I fix it soon. Should I choose the Squire or the Ibanez, eventually want to own a Jazz only, Precision only, and a mix of the two...
