I wouldn't hesitate. It's the best way to get where you want to be, playing with others and doing the work. Every so often, I get to play with a local wind symphony when they get a bug for a bass on some material. For me, not being a consistent reader, it's like being in 4th grade all over...

TI Jazz flats

One of my regular gigs (every Sat-Sun, 2-6) is often, through the year, followed by another band's gig 30 miles away with an 8 p.m. start. It works, is a tad tight, but not bad with good planning and luck there's no flat tire on the way.

As driver and putter.

I use it all the time. For my brain, I think I memorize songs faster if I've charted them out first. Decades later, some songs I still "see" the chart in my mind. Also helps when, years later, a different band may pull out a song I've not touched forever and do it in a different key than...

Going for my first time ever. On a side note, dang I miss working in Mesquite.

Two basses, two cables, and I only bring two heads because when one was off for repairs, I needed a second one to keep gigging. At well under ten pounds, it's no biggie to toss the second head in for the ride.
