Did you change the pickups as well? Others have told me that changing/removing the preamp helps, but they changed the pickup beforehand.

Really? Because it seems like an issue with these instruments in general. I actually had another thread where I complained about the overheating, and it seems like a lot of people with this model have had the same issue.

Active, I suspect. On these models, the pickup is passive and the controls are active, so I think the active controls overheat really fast. I'm not fully certain, but that's my impression.

I actually lowered the pickup already. It's a little better, but a bit hard to adjust to since I'm used to resting my thumb on the pickup. Maybe I'll invest in a thumb rest if I don't get a new pickup.

I have tried with multiple batteries, jacks, and amps, but not cables. I've only really used two or three cables. But I'm not sure if that would make all the difference.
