AVII vs. Mod Shop: The Vintage P-Bass Dilemma

The higher mass bridges - 1) will not accept a cover because they're too wide, and 2) I find these to be a big tone factor - the higher the mass the more scooped out the mids which sounds darker and more modern - not better or worse per se, matter of personal preference or sound within the...

Do you ever play on bass another instrument's part?

Mostly out of frustration. I've played with a lot of musicians (mostly guitarists) who don't always learn the right chords, or don't "hear" a rhythm part because they are lead-centric, so often I've play little rhythm guitar "answer" parts that the bassline "calls." I'd rather just play the...

What do you say when service/fast food workers call you BOSS?

Haha! Say, Jasper, what comes after 75?

What do you say when service/fast food workers call you BOSS?

I live in Maui, where everyone's unofficial first name is Boss-man. I usually respond with something like "shoots, Boss-man."

Help Me Overthink This: A Tale of Too Many Precision Basses

Strap wideness - an interesting discussion

Joking aside that's a consideration for me. A strap with more girth helps distribute weight in my opinion. I've had thin 4" straps that didn't feel as comfy as a 2.5" or 3" strap with some substance to it.

Peter Steel from Type O Negative. They were one of my favorite bands back in the 90s. That guy was huge.

Yeah after considering it for a sec, I realized if I give you so much as a slight head nod while I’m playing it’s only because I’m in an unusually good mood

Keith is one of the greatest rhythm players that I can think of and he’s also an amazing Bass player.

Negative on that, he’s trying to talk me into refunding me some money for a skinnier strap because he thinks I might be happier but I politely declined. His normal size is 1 1/8 inch. Those are about half the price of the 3 inches.

Holy hand grenade, that was a slick movie quote! (I went with the 3 inchers)
