    Modulus Mob

I think it will be a long way to go... there are many possibilities of the problem. I will let you know about my Mod's status later. Hope I can bring some good news.

    Modulus Mob

Thank you for sharing your opinion. It seems the string model can be one of the possible reasons for my Mod's condition. I can't recall how my Mod's neck was when I used DR. But currently, it is bowed forward with Daddario.

    Modulus Mob

My mod has a phenolic fingerboard. I've been using Daddario since last year, but I changed string models whenever I changed string before. It is still strange that the string model affects the neck that much.

String gauge? I've used DR and Daddario .125 and .130 gauge and changed the string at least every six months. Luthier said my Mod's neck relief changed so rapidly that he had to turn the truss rod a lot. It is not stable.

    Modulus Mob

How often do you turn your truss rod? Whenever I go to the luthier(every six months), he tells me the neck's condition is far from normal. My Mod was made in 2000. It is quite an old instrument, but I still can't understand why I suffer from its neck issue. Any advice?

    YAMAHA TRB CLUB

Does anyone know the frequency of preamp in TRB 1006J? I've been searching for it but couldn't find the exact frequency of the preamp's bass, mid, treble.

    Multi-scale or "fanned fret" basses

I played Kiesel's fan-fret bass for years. It was about 35.5''~33''. With low B, it sounded much tighter than my Fender 5 string which was 34''. But when comparing to my Modulus and Yamaha which are 35'', both are much better. So in the case of 35.5'' multi-scale, I cannot say it is much better...

Time to let go 3 finger?

Thank you for your amazing words. It is good to know that I am not the only one suffering from that technique. I should check the artists you mentioned especially Juan Alderete. Your story will help me let go of that technique without turning back. I hope it is not too late to dive into two...

Time to let go 3 finger?

I've been practicing 3 finger for about 5-6 years. I can make steady even sound until 150 bpm but after that speed, it was always difficult for me to avoid that galloping or fast triplet sound. Maybe my brain rejected recognizing 3 finger into 16 beat. I uploaded one of my cover below. I...

How do I play this fast/clean?

When I first learned how to play bass, I thought the tab was the only answer. It is harder than piano to read sheet music. However, after I started playing music without a tab, I had more choices in my playing. Like other people mentioned, you can play another note instead of an open string...

IIRC, JP2 is much bigger than TRB so I assume there will be some difficulty in playing compared to TRB. I guess that difference is much bigger than I thought. How were those two different sound-wise?

NBD! A New Day With Yamaha

More popular music is what I am doing in the band currently, quite far from metal which what I actually want to do. Mid range was what the band needed. If my band tries some metallic stuffs, that will be the time for Modulus to shine.

NBD! A New Day With Yamaha

The best thing I really liked about Modulus was its clarity. Its clean but strong definition is beyond comparison. It really shines in every live gigs but in the recording? The outcome was always something far from my expectation. I'm planning to change pickups and preamps to Bartolini later...

    YAMAHA TRB CLUB

My TRB1006J arrived last week. Lowered its string height with pickup height, and it sounds much better than I expected. It became my main instrument position instead of Modulus Quantum. B string is quite tight and its sound is natural and organic. Exactly what I need. Modulus had strong lows but...

NBD! A New Day With Yamaha

Yamaha has been one of the most friendly instrument companies for me. I played Yamaha piano and guitar, and even my first bass was Yamaha (I don't remember its exact model name). Since my first Yamaha bass was not that high quality, I only used it in 2016 IIRC. After that, my main instrument...
