    Why are only old Fender basses considered special?

    I don't dislike Fenders at all, but really, this old nutshell again. Jeez. Things have moved on a fair bit since these instruments were invented. Great in their day, but there's a Miriad of excellent choice out there today. Move on or get left behind in nostalgia.
