    I understand!!! I've found that upright basses can be setup differently for different kinds of playing. Actually, I was told that back in the day PC, Mingus , Jimmy Garrison, Ray Brown etc.... They all used to go to this one guy who set all their basses up. He knew how to set them up...

    Advice may not always have to come from a technical standpoint... A lot of my teaching involved concepts I've learned through experience... All these things transfer musically 4sure! To me, music is a reflection of life and humanity.... practicing, working hard, discipline, sharing the stage...

    Using the natural arm weight to produce sound will help greatly. I teach all of my students this all the time. It's way more relaxed and you can get twice the sound while focussing your attack.

    Hip... On some instruments you can get a similar feel if you match your attack and pulse to that of an upright. It's all about figuring out how to make the sound on one and reproduce it on the other...
