    Strange intonation/string issue

Yes, the picture I posted in the old post is actually an old photo. I already moved the screws and actually modified the bridge a little bit to get even more adjustment. Again, I’m still about -23cents off

    Strange intonation/string issue

I have two theories 1. The original strings have less tension than the ones I am trying and I should just find some new strings that are lower tension? Although they still work, the original strings are pretty degraded 2. The new strings that I have are actually for a long scale bass and not...

    Strange intonation/string issue

Thanks for the info. They feel very similar in tension and no truss rod adjustment has been necessary when switching between them. No significant differences between them in nut or bridge. They sit pretty much the same. I am absolutely perplexed by this whole situation. How can two sets of...

    Strange intonation/string issue

Yes, I did work on the nut and it's perfect. What do you mean about the saddle?

    Strange intonation/string issue

    Yes, intonation was perfect

    Strange intonation/string issue

I just measured the Rotosound strings and they are very similar in gauge (0.43, 0.56, 0.70, 0.100 vs the old strings that are 0.43, 0.50, 0.80, 0.95) and I am getting vastly different intonation (about 30 cents!). Maybe it has to do with the core material of the strings? They are all flatwound

    Strange intonation/string issue

I bought a Gibson '64 EB bass a couple months ago. Amazing bass, perfect sound. I love the strings that it came with but they look really old, no one knows what they may be (flatwounds, red silk at the end, no silk at tuners. 0.43, 0.50, 0.80, 0.95) they may be the original strings since the...

    Wiring independent volume and tone

Thanks for the clarification! That would still be the same with an ungrounded blend knob right?

    Wiring independent volume and tone

Here's another idea, would this work? How about using a blend knob instead two volumes. Would that help separate the neck pup from the bridge tone pot? Would it make sense for pickups that have such different resistance?

    Wiring independent volume and tone

Thanks Fig! Great chart, that was very clear. Thanks for taking the time to explain so clearly :) I don't think that any of the workarounds work great in my situation since the neck is already so overpowered that having a resistor weakening the bridge pup would not be a good idea, and I don't...

    Wiring independent volume and tone

Wow, interesting! Thanks for the insight. Would that still be the case if the tone pot is at 10? maybe a 'no load tone pot' would be even better... I know it's probably very little effect, but this is a VERY dark neck pickup but it sounds great if there's no tone control. Btw, the neck pickup...

    Wiring independent volume and tone

So the tone control won't affect the neck pickup at all?

It’s an EB-0 modded with an added bridge pickup

    Wiring independent volume and tone

Hi, I have a vintage Gibson EB-0 with a bridge pickup that I want to wire with independent volumes like a jazz bass, BUT I don't want any tone control for the neck pickup, I want to keep it wide open (it's a particularly dark pickup). The bass has just two knobs, one is the neck volume and the...
