That's fine if you don't mind pursuing music as a hobby. Most of those bands put all of their proceeds into "the band" so they can "make it big", which means you'll be playing for free as a volunteer. The songwriter of the group probably doesn't want to share that capacity, so you'll never see...

First off, I'd rather listen to live musicians anytime. However, there's no reason bass players can't play this game, too. You really need to be able to sing lead, though. Don't sell yourself short; take stock of how well other bands' lead singers sound in your area. At least around here...
