    Using EUB In Bluegrass

Seem like nobody responded to this. Just started with a EUB and, while not playing bluegrass, here a pass-along where one bluegrass bass player has gone EUB. I would suggest looking into a sponge mute if you go this way. Ninomute has a nice mute for upping the bluegrass thump on a EUB.

Double Bass Thinking of entering upright world with a EUB. Should I?

After quite a bit of consideration, I let the size and portability of the EUB be the deciding factor. Just have one of Mark Gollihur's "Special Edition" NS Design NXTa arrived last night. So full length of a 3/4 UB, and NS's "traditional" strings will be my starting point, even though it's...

Double Bass Thinking of entering upright world with a EUB. Should I?

A In some ways, gear transportation is a factor. Currently I drag a 50 pound combo amp, and a bass guitar in a hard case in two trips back and forth. A EUB would add a third trip to and from the vehicle, as I intended to use both. The thing is EUB/amp size/bulk is acceptable for the compact...

Double Bass Thinking of entering upright world with a EUB. Should I?

Bherman, wood shedding for months to develop my skills is exactly what I expect would be necessary. I'm under no illusion that I could drag a EUB or a DB in to ensemble practice and be productive in anything less than 6 months or more.

Double Bass Thinking of entering upright world with a EUB. Should I?

Excellent points, these. One reason for consideration of a EUB is size and portability. A DB is quite large. Transporting it back and forth would be awkward in a compact SUV. And it would take up a lot of space where I store my guitars and amps. An amp (I use an Acoustic combo amp) and a...

Double Bass Thinking of entering upright world with a EUB. Should I?

The story: Long time guitarist, recent electric bass guitar player. Join a community band ensemble that was welcoming as their string bass, using my electric bass guitar, of course. It's a challenge, with my rudiment notional skill, and I'm growing. Music within a brass and woodwind ensemble...

    TalkBass Bassists With Hearing Loss.

Unlike most I was hard of hearing before any music related damage. I was diagnosed as hearing impaired at age 5. I've worn hearing aids since I was 13, and started learning guitar at 15. I'm 68 now. So it's not a matter of damaging my hearing, it's just the way it's always been. There's no...

Question: how to get to speaker in Acoustic B100 Mk combo? II

The write-up does leave us with a bit of questions as why he was doing those repairs. It's not stated, but starting at the speaker suggests there was no sound so he checked for a blown speaker. Then he's replacing the power IC, and then he's replacing a rectifier, which he at least confirms is...

Question: how to get to speaker in Acoustic B100 Mk combo? II

G-Dog's suggestion is excellent, but I can't tell a difference between with or without a cord in the FX jacks. Today I have time to check out the amp. Things have changed from the initial loss. Tuesday, I had practice session with a community band ensemble. Got there and I couldn't heard...

Question: how to get to speaker in Acoustic B100 Mk combo? II

Hey thanks, Sea Monkey. So it IS entry through the front to pull the speaker. The link you provided did show that Acoustic has Velcro behind the grill holding it on for B100's little brother.

Question: how to get to speaker in Acoustic B100 Mk combo? II

The speaker replacement is not a jerk-knee reaction. Troubleshooting will occur. After confirming bass, cable, and controls, I have to pull the amp out just to substitute an another speaker.

Question: how to get to speaker in Acoustic B100 Mk combo? II

Thanks for the suggestion. The grill doesn't look like it's a snap on at all. I'm hoping to get the straight scoop from someone that has actually replaced the speaker in a B100, or has opened the cabinet.

Question: how to get to speaker in Acoustic B100 Mk combo? II

The B100 Mk II from Acoustic I have has suddenly lost volume. There's still sound, but way less than before. If it needs a speaker replacement, how do you get inside this thing? There's no back panel with mounting screw. If the grill is removable, it's hard to see how. Any B100 owners that...

Transpose tuba part to bass within Guitar Pro?

Anyone know of a quick way within Guitar Pro to take a Tuba part in standard notation and convert it to Bass guitar? I know I have to move the standard notation of tuba up an octave to show it as bass guitar in standard notation. I'm just slow at reading bass clef notation and consequently...
