    SX SJMB Review (with pics!)

I finally got around to finishing this [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] All of the chrome hardware went black for mechanical and cosmetic purposes. The cavities were shielded and a series/parallel pushpot was installed to jag it up a bit. Flatwound strings, along with the bridge, should...

Ampeg V4-B: Six power tube sockets?

The 6k11 section is only 1/3 populated and has empty spots for caps, resistors and two sockets (V202...

Ampeg V4-B: Six power tube sockets?

Hello. I finally cracked open a broken V4-B that I bought a while ago and noticed that there are two vacant power tube sockets, as well as crude metal plates around the 12s and 6K11. I have never seen another one of these in the nude, but this looks a bit weird. I think I remember reading...

    Is fretless over-rated?

One of the biggest upsides to playing fretless in a 'heavier' setting is the presence it has over a fretted bass. The few cents of dissonance between the guitars and FL bass really give it a thick, comfortable place in the mix.
