I live in the SE part of the US so I can't help.. I keep mine trimmed down to 1/4" or less with a electric beard trimmer, I use it once a week...but I guess you must have a duck dynasty beard? Hope you have a fun and safe trip to Seattle.

The Custom pick guard I was referring to was on the Bass I saw for sale on another web site, not yours.. the art work on the pick guard was not too my style..

I just saw a Longhorn like yours for sale... Blue with black neck, so maybe yours is "Factory".. The custom graphics on the pick guard, would have to go if I bought it. The serial numbers on back of head stock are about 50 from my MIK Longhorn and tuners look like mine too (no D)

I think you will like the new bass. I have a 2016 black Mikro with a Mahogany body with flats, it seems to have a nice sound to it.. But in the future I might upgrade the pots and pick ups

Congrats on getting the Longhorn! I have a MIK glossy black with electronics like yours. I installed the LaBella "Dano" flatwound strings and the fit was perfect.

Check the classifieds..there is at least one there for sale. I got mine there from a TB member.

I have used Macassar ebony veneers under clear fiberglass building recurve bows..it is pretty expensive $90 -$120 per board ft for turning grade, musical grade is likely even more?. I would think that would use something less expensive..maybe they had some with no character? I have some ME...

Howlin, I bought a Black Longhorn similar to that one you are looking at. Mine has chrome tuners with out the "D". I am still learning to play and am very much a newbie..I like mine and rarely plug in my Fender Starcaster or Mikro since I got the Longhorn..

I would not use a belt sander, Belt sanders can remove material pretty fast and you dont want that. I have a 6"x80" Grizzly belt sander in my shop, it would go thru the finish and into the wood in 1 second...
