    Peavey Amp Club

Enough power for me! I play it through an Ampeg 8x10, volume just below half, and it cuts through in my band with drums and a big stereo guitar rig. Pretty clean power too, it gets a little dirty if I push the volume, but that's why I like tubes. I've gigged with a 90w tube head too, and it had...

Getting Discouraged on my Dream Warwick Bass Hunt

I was looking for almost a year before I found my 1988 Thumb NT5. The one I ended up buying wasn't listed anywhere, I asked around on a bass group on Facebook and got a reply there. I'd been wanting one since 1992 and when I finally got it, it didn't disappoint. It's an amazing instrument.

Has anybody ever seen a 15 string bass?

They would probably do it, but that's where the "generational debt" part comes in. I would suggest a 10-string instead, but that would be a full custom too so maybe not that much cheaper.

What Bass Was The Biggest Disappointment For You?

Gibson SG bass. I got one in a trade but I have no idea how they get away with charging that much for that level of quality. I quickly sold it and got an old Warwick instead.

    NBD…My first Warwick!!

Nice! My Thumb is unlike any other bass I've had, but now it's pretty much the only one I play.

The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

    @Erithon - My SS2 is D 034 87 and my Thumb NT5 is L 337 88

The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

I have a 1987 SS2 and a 1988 Thumb NT5, and they have some heft to them. I can't remember the weight of the Streamer, the Thumb is around 11lbs. Not too bad, but you're starting to feel it in your shoulder after an hour :) I doesn't keep me from playing them, they're my favourite basses ever.

How many frets do you really need?

19, to play the solo on Smooth Operator.

    Was your 1st bass a P.O.S?

My first bass was great. It was a PJ bass made from Chandler parts, with Fender hardware and EMG pickups, that I got in 1990 or 1991. All the parts are still in use, but spread out over two basses.

The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

They've built at least one, but I think it was a very early one-off custom job. They basically glued Streamer body wings to a Thumb neck, 26 frets and all, and it had Thumb pickup config and electronics. I've seen it posted in Facebook, a guy in Norway has one.

I haven't gigged with mine either, but it's fine on rehearsals. It's 11 pounds so I definitely notice it on my shoulder.

Have You Ever Bought a 4 String Version of a 5 String Bass You Already Owned (or Vice Versa)?

I really wanted a 5-string Warwick Thumb NT, but I bought a 4-string Blonde Thumb first because it was too cheap to pass up on. It's a great bass but didn't scratch my itch so I got a 5-string a couple of months later :)

My NT5 doesn't have any balance issues either, mainly because the body is insanely heavy 😄

What is your "one day..." bass?

It used to be a 5-string Warwick Thumb NT, but then I finally got one. The next on the list is a fretless Wal Mk.1, but I'll never be able to afford one.

    Wal Clone/Tribute club?

My Wal-a-like 8-string. There's nothing Wal about the sound though, just two MM pickups and passive tone control.
