Yeah I also think the original hardware was very good and good lokking too, but a bit on the heavy side. This bass is my favourite of the basses I have had, so I dont want to part with it, it is a keeper! Here's another in black (not mine)...

Hello, and thanks for a great thread. Regarding the Lace Sensor, i'm pretty sure it is a split coil PU. I had one die on me in a Jazz Bass Plus, and I dismantled the defective PU after replacing it. Pics: Ronnie
