I have been playing a Vintage Burst Caprice for roughly 3 months. I believe the frets are stainless steel,they shure seem like it. my Caprice seems like it could last forever. I agree, great fret work,starting with a beautifully cut nut.

MXR M81 for great clean tone,can be useful at your amp,and at the mixing board (front of house) simultaneously.

Based on your interest in Jazz. Check out some Scott LaFaro.He died young,but he sure did leave us some great "solos".

I always bend string prior to cutting. I highly recommend this with coated strings, of any brand. Being coated makes them more likely to slippages. The bend seems to provide extra lockage at machine head,IMO.

The one and only time I ever had a problem with a poorly cut (too low) nut slot, was with a Am Standard Jazz Bass. It was amazing how much it sounded like the truss rod was loose / broken. It was also the "A" string. As an attempt to trouble shoot. I put cardboard shim in the "A" string nut...
