MM pickups bass side mounting tabs

I haven't been on this site in a while but there is something I have been wondering about and really hope no one has posted about this yet, but I don't even know if I am calling this part the right thing so I couldn't find a post during a search. Anyway, I have noticed that some MM pickups have...

    Guitar+Bass combo amp?

I know this is a long dead thread, but if anyone finds it nowadays, there is now an actual amp, actually amps, that do(es) this, the Peavey Vypyr VIP series. I have a Vypyr VIP 2, and I can say I am really happy with it. I wish I had ponied up the extra hundred bucks for the 3 for the extra...

Can a bad Guitarist become a good Bassist?

In high school four of my friends and I wanted to form and band and did. We had a drummer and the rest of us played guitar, well one guy played keys too, so he played keys, duh. Of the rest us, I was easily the worse, so I was voted to be bass player. We were into the Beatles and lots of other...

    Bisonic pups

Yeah, I guess if use a 17 mm or so bridge and move it to MM sweet spot or even P bass pickup position it would work find on a narrow spacing build with the single pickup. Thanks.

    Bisonic pups

About the narrow spacing. It is like 16MM for the bridge pickups which is apparently the only one they sell or anyone can find. They aren't going to sell a lot with that spacing. I think the narrowest spacing on a bridge I can find (Hipshot) is 16.5 MM. To the people who have installed them...

As long as he sets things right, or at the very least does no more harm, I wish him well.

Played the nicest Jazz bass today, but my least favorite color...

I understand looks do matter, from significant others to basses, but seriously? You can always refinish, or jazz up with vinyl wraps. To me color is a non-issue, maple or not is a legit thing. As some prefer the feel or the tone of one fretboard wood to another, but again that's stuff beyond...

players who are ashamed of having "entry level" brand instruments...

I often gig more with a Squire short scale Jag bass that cost less than $200 than an early 80s American made Fender Precision that while it didn't cost that much, is now worth about $1200. The Squier suits my needs, I like its sound and its playability is unmatched. If anyone has a problem with...

using a jazz bass for punk rock

Yes, I know there's a Precision in my avatar, but I've also used a Jazz with my punk band too. I've also used Gibson EB series, an LTD Viper and a few others as well. Punk is style, and to a lesser degree, tone. I think having an Ampeg SVT will get you a rock/punk tone no matter what you plug...

Who do you blame things on?

My evil ex-wife, of course. She's the reason for everything from Fender insisting on 20 fret necks to Trump being president.

    Underappreciated Bassists in famous bands

All of the bassists of the Descendents. Doug Carrion, Tony Lombardo, and of course Karl Alvarez. Listen to their entire catalog, there is plenty of high energy, melodic bass lines from all 3 gentlemen.

If you had to play one bass forever, what would it be?

Damn, that MusicMan is effing sweet.
