I haven't been on this site in a while but there is something I have been wondering about and really hope no one has posted about this yet, but I don't even know if I am calling this part the right thing so I couldn't find a post during a search. Anyway, I have noticed that some MM pickups have a single long mounting tab or whatever you call it on the bass side like so
While it seems more commonly others have the two distinct separate screw mount tabs like so
Every aftermarket MM upgrade pickup I have seen have the later configuration.
So, my question is what is one to do about the ugly and problematic gap in the pickguard if you have a single tab pickup and replace it with the more common two tab pickup? Does someone make some kind of spacer to address this?
I ask because I am thing of buying a Sterling, the first bass in this post, but I know that the cheaper model pickups are crap, so I want to get a Bartolini or Delano to replace it, but I don't want to buy a new pickguard too.
Anybody else run into this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
