Looks like serial is an "S8" which would be 1978. Looks about right for 40 years a playin'

OP ... check your value. A .047uf is what you need. Checked a Ric schematic and that's what was listed.

The switch on position grounds out the tone pot. Leaving the .068uf cap straight to ground. It's a deep full tone roll off. It's pretty handy. The strings are set to about 1/10" clearance at end of fingerboard. I guess if you wanted to slap, you could lower it. (just kiddin')
