Where to get a .0047uf capacitor?

Thanks for the replies, or at least the ones that were trying to be helpful. I've done a lot of looking online (including Google, believe it or not :meh:), and I wasn't sure if I should worry about finding one that specifically has the following features:

- "Non-polarized" cap like the Rickenbacker wiring diagram shows.
- Exact same voltage as the one used by Rickenbacker
-Same tube-like shape (not sure if that's important if it's going to be an in-line cap vs. the normal tone caps)

So what I'm hearing from everyone is that none of this really matters that much, right?

Normal polyester cap is non polar. (legs can put either way)
No need to have the same voltage. Pickup gives couple volts max. So from 10 V is ok. Can be higher voltage rating, but may be physically too big.
No need to be axial (=tube-like) , but may be easier and more neat to solder.

If you try to get the exactly same component as RIC has, then its different. But any polyester cap 4,7 nF/up from 10 volts will work.

(I have a '79 RIC 4001)

Thanks @okabass! You have been very helpful. Now I know what axial is. I was actually just googling that because I found some caps that are axial. Thanks again!

Almost all 4.7 nF (0,0047 micro-F, same thing) capacitors are non-polarized. Anything that says "Film capacitor" is non-polarized. That one would work, but its voltage rating is excessively high which makes it bigger and more expensive, as JKos noted. If you only buy one, the expensive part doesn't matter, but the size might.

This is really a very basic component where almost any capacitor will work. If you are in a place that still has an electronics supply store, just walk in and explain what you need and it should take only a couple of minutes and cost less than 50 cents.

Nope. An .047uf poly film cap is an .047uf poly film cap.

Mammoth Electronics is a good source (Link Removed). They're geared towards the musician and electronic hobbyist market. Their site is a lot easier to navigate if you're new to all this. Good prices too.
 
OP ... check your value. A .047uf is what you need. Checked a Ric schematic and that's what was listed.

I think op is looking for an .00047uf cap, not a .047uf. Very different, by a lot.
