Yeah, I think you're right. Lots of bargain or mid-priced instruments probably could benefit from a leveling. But I wouldn't undertake it unless I was trying to solve a problem.

I feel your hesitation. But I wouldn't go a-shimming until the neck relief was settled and the saddles bottomed out and still couldn't get the string action as low as I wanted.
