small 110 combo amp. GK, PEAVEY, TRAYNOR, FENDER?

Model S2010 is the 10" version, if your using the sb-110. With that speaker in it, is about 5lbs lighter- 16lbs total, About 7.5kg. it's the schlep king. Also of note, the S2010 speaker has a different frequency response from the stock speaker, making it a bit stronger in the vocal range. It...

LaBella A string snapped at ball end

I've broken several at the ball end when installing. LaBella flats many times. And most often when i give the strings a 'tug to snug.' Install, then l tug and DOINK! The ball guess flying (i have to remind myself not to tug or else)

Finally tried Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats

For those who are wondering about flexibility of these strings: Here's a pic to give an visual on the flex of the cobalt flat vs actual flats. Pictured below are .095 E strings. They are both pulled to the max they'll allow. You can see the cobalt (inner loop) is much more flexible than the EB...

Finally tried Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats

I am in week 1 of trying the Cobalt Flatwound strings for the first time. . . 2 years since the last post before now. I'm late to the party! After using the roundwound Cobalts for 6 months, I decided to try them on some other basses. I really appreciate how they have stayed flexible over...

    Double Bass Peter Infeld Strings

Oh. These are steel strings ? For the record, when I posted previously my minimum research told me that the pis were synthetic. I saw conflicting information, at the time. Sorry to perpetuate conflicting information!

    Lightning Boy Audio Thread

To clarify, I feel like the fe23 got fuzzier over time, as in hot temperature. I'm wondering if anyone has noticed it from 5' to 85' playing time. I've heard this on amps' onboard DI output- the output signal gets stronger when the amp temp rises over time. I do hear it when driven by...

I have a LBA DIvision, which is pretty great DI+ tone shaper. After trying that and a few other LBA devices, I am on board. I dig the stuff. Out of curiosity i bought an Fe23 about a year ago. I find it very useful on the far side of any digital device, like my ZOIA. It brings it back to...

    Double Bass G String Recommendations?

Should clarify and say ...4/4 medium- s42 under 3885W.

    Double Bass G String Recommendations?

Fender p precision. I call it that because the top strings are a little more vocal and the lower strings are a little more bassy. It's similar to what happens with the fender precision pickup placement. It's less noticeable with the bow, but pizzicato and through the amplifier it sounds very...

    Double Bass G String Recommendations?

Believe it or not, Jargar G works, though less sustain

    Double Bass G String Recommendations?

If you're using 3885W EAD string, I've found all the Flexocor varieties work - original, 92 and deluxe. It really depends on the Instrument to pick which one of those three is better. Oliv, EP, EPW can all work, too. I did not find obligato G alone to work, but I used DG obli over 3885W AE...

    Double Bass Peter Infeld Strings

And while I'm posting... Here is my impression after seeing and playing these for only a few minutes on others' basses: As a long time user of Dominants, I think these strings are an updated Dominant set, similar to the way I feel Bel Canto are an evolution of spiros. All these strings have...

    Double Bass Peter Infeld Strings

@elmer - Yes about the g-string. I sat next to a colleague last month, who was playing the PI strings. The g-string was notably thumpier than the rest of the set. In fact that was this particular player's one critique of the set that they liked otherwise.

Is there an 1176 or FET style compressor with a tilt-EQ like a Smoothie?

The Hagerman 12AU7 tube compressor has a tone knob. It works well going from bright to dark. I really like the pedal. I have a Diamond BCP-1 for sale ; PM me if you're interested.
