I had mine updated a while back and it was definitely worth it, the added flexibility is really great when using with different sources. So, I’ve had an LBA DiVision (Nuvistor tube and in-house transformer-based DI) for a while and somehow never noticed that a some point an ‘EQ Mod’ upgrade was made available for it.
Via the website, it looked like I’d missed the boat, but dropped Mike an e-mail. He was nice enough to still offer it, (i think he said he only had a couple of kits left) so it’s recently had a refresh!
There is a new HI/LO EQ switch to tailor the area the ‘Vision’ (or presence) control affects, a ‘Dark’ filter for high-end and an added post-tube output, so it can now be used as a sound source in a chain of pedals.. rather than simply a straight DI, with a thru.
There is also a ‘fix’ for some units that were ‘microphonic’.. which I’d noticed on this one a bit when you plugged the jack into the input. Quiet as a mouse now..
I can post more about the sound of the unit, once I’ve had a chunk more time playing through it.
I need to say that Mike’s care and attention throughout has been exceptional, especially through the holiday period.. seems utterly top notch to me.
I love this DI and yes Mike was a joy to deal with.
: Do we LBA fans call these Mag-Boost, or 26FX?
