LaBella A string snapped at ball end

Hi all, I was stringing a new P Bass with the Vintage HiMass bridge. As I was tuning, the ball end popped off the A string. Ugh! I emailed LaBella and they got right back to me within an hour. They asked for my address so I assume I'll be getting a new A string. This was on the 760FL set. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, over the years with DTF, at least once (I also broke a DTF trying to thru-body like they told me not to). The core wire broke. Labella sent a new set.

I've used LaBella flats for decades and have never had one break. The only thing I can think of is maybe you had a rough spot on the back of the bridge for that string that caused it to cut through. I've never used top load on my 2008 I always string through. And for that you need a special set that has the "TB" Or through body designation. Never had a problem with those. I'm sure if you get a hold of LaBella they will replace that string for you under warranty.

Yup. Had a 760FX D string break at ball end tuning up right out of the package recently. Have had construction or quality issues with every LaBella set I’ve bought DTF, LTF, Olinto. I suspect they charge so much for Olinto basses to offset all the strings they have to replace hahaha….

never had this with any string and i've installed at least 150 sets, just a fluke
but I've had lots of other LaBella problems, too many to count
this is why i always buy off amazon, and always buy 2 sets at once, then return one if needed
nothing worse than waiting for a new string which they will send snail mail, it will take a week or more to arrive

i actually ended up buying a set on Amazon because I got tired of waiting.
