I thought it would have been, couldn't see a way of painting it then oil finishing it myself. I've been reading that the Bongo seems to suffer from the satin finish rubbing off and turning glossy. Would the stealth neck suffer from the same issue?

STRONGLY leaning toward an EBMM Stingray 5 in Stealth Black finish, However, I've noticed that the back of the neck is black too (as you would expect) so what finish is applied to it? I already own a 4 string Stingray and the oil finished neck is bliss, would the stealth neck have a satin finish...

3 band with a Piezo if you can afford it, definitely worth the extra money IMO and adds a whole different sound.

I absolutely love them, I play a lot of Punk/Ska, stuff where the bass really needs to to shine through, and these are absolutely perfect on my Stingray. I was a firm believer in DR Lo-Riders in the past but picked up a set of these one day for a change and haven't looked back since.

They're not Stainless Steel, But have you tried Ernie Ball Cobalts? Shedloads of Midrange imo, Used to love Stainless strings but Cobalts are now my go to string, definately worth a try

I would say it's all down to personal preference. I play a lot of ska punk/dub/reggae styles in my band, and I really like my sound to cut through the mix, lots of high end sparkle with lots of midrange punch, and a nice bit low end to top it all off. I use an EBMM Stingray with Ernie Ball...

It could be the tube in the pre-amp on it's way out, does the problem go away when you have the valve drive knob turned all the way to clean?

I play a lot of punk ska, so I love that middy punch they give, the tone is just right for me. I pretty much change strings every month, so long life isn't majorly important to me I guess.

I personally really like them. My go to string now, just love the sound of them on my Stingray. I used to use DR lo-Riders a lot but they just lacked something for me, Can't quite put my finger on it though, but I know the Cobalts gave me the sound the Lo-Riders didn't.

It's not unfair of a business to ask you to return the strings to them, after all, there are dishonest people out there. I'm sure I don't speak for myself when I say most people would keep the strings to return them if there was a defect. I've not yet had to deal with Ernie Ball customer...
