Input Jack works on and off and scratches

I bought a can of some oxidation cleaner from Radio Shack for $6.00 and it works now. I brushed the connecter with a wire brush and sandpaper then sprayed this stuff on. Now the annoying static noise is gone.

Input Jack works on and off and scratches

I have an old "piece of junk" Fender too. Have you considered getting a new clip? The only hard part would be the soldering the wires.

Input Jack works on and off and scratches

thanks all, I tried another cable, so it's not the cable. It's probably corrosion on the contacts of the input jack. Had a similar problem with my speaker cable going to my computer : corrosion. I'll clean it off and see what happens. Do they sell this stuff at radio shack?

Input Jack works on and off and scratches

Hi all, Having a problem with my Input Jack. When I plug the cord in and turn on the amp, it usually gets no sound. But if I turn the plug in the jack or even move it a bit, it works. Then I have to be careful not to move or it will go out again, or it makes horrible scratching sounds. I...

most pathetic audition you've seen or heard of

LMAO . . that is exactly how I started playing guitar. At 16, I found an old piece of junk electric guitar in the basement, someone showed me (only) the major bar chords, and I started learning songs by ear off records, . . . using only major chords - the only chord I knew. Anyway...

most pathetic audition you've seen or heard of

Finding a good singer is by far the most difficult position to fill in a band. I can't recall any particular pathetic auditions, but auditioning singers can be painful, if not funny. Once, when I was in cover band when Pat Benatar was big, we would audition girls and ask them to sing her...

    Which Bass to Buy?

I've played 2 basses : Fender Precision : the neck is thick, great solid sound for rock and other types of music. Fender Jazz : the neck is not as thick, easier to play, better if you want to play solos on. When I was playing the Precision, there was stuff I could not play that I can...

Convince me I should move to a 5-string

Although I'm not a big fan of 5 or 6 string basses, guys like Anthony Jackson and Abe Laboriel are the exceptions. They truly play magical, mind-blowing stuff. But Jeff can play mind-blowing stuff on just 4 strings, so 4 strings can go a long way. My biggest issue is when 5 and 6 string...

Convince me I should move to a 5-string

As usual, I agree with the advice from God : Did you use the 5, 6, or 7 string basses on your new record? I don't play anymore than 4 strings (I might use a five string if required on a session). For my own musical purposes, I am strictly a 4 string player because I believe that more...

What made you decide to play bass?

lol . . classic Don't know if this was the best reason, . . . but to get into a band easier. Like a previous poster said, "I did the math, 20,000 guitar players, one bass player" I played guitar, but really felt is was important to sing if you're a guitar player in a band. I can't...
