Other than flats, maybe GHS Pressurewounds? For flats, if you prefer keeping some top end, you might try D'Addario Chromes. Just my $0.02.

That is exactly my setup when I'm playing an outdoor gig or a larger venue (bumping up the wattage from 400w to 800w with the second cabinet). Phenomenal sound and the best of both worlds kind of situation. Highly recommend it.

I've tried doing that with a Rumble 500 using a Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig and I wasn't pleased with the results. I ended up ditching all that and going Mesa Boogie and have never been happier. ;-)

I agree with a few suggestions above. If you are dead set on leaving the band, tell them before the gig you are quitting, but will play the gig so as not to leave them high and dry. As someone said above, if they decide you can walk before the gig because they've got a replacement, then...

I find my D-800+ with the 115 Ultralite to be more than enough for most applications. We do however run a line out from the amp's DI (a fantastic DI by the way) to subs. Nevertheless, for most outdoor gigs I use the 112 paired with the 115 so I can bump it up to 800w. Outdoor sound dispersion...

Yes, thiiiick finish and heavy too just like the original. I put DiMarzio Model J's in it, GHS Pressurewounds, and through a Mesa D-800+ and it roars like a mastodon from the days of yore. :cool: It's my #1 or #2 live, depending on the application.

That neck is labeled as such, but I'm not sure that it's the same neck as on my 2015 Fender Classic Series 70s Jazz Bass, so my experience is with its neck. The dimensions on mine are 1.5" nut width, 0.82" at the 1st fret, and a full 1.00" at the 12th fret. The profile seems to be a D shape...

I've been a Precision Bass with flats guy and still am, if I have my druthers. However, in our band in both rehearsal and playing live, I pretty much only play a Jazz Bass with GHS Pressurewounds now, albeit it has DiMarzio Model Js in it. I love my Fender Road Worn Flea Jazz Bass with flats...
