Mesa Boogie vs Ampeg vs Markbass vs Others

I have a D800+ and I think it sounds fantastic for classic rock and funk (I don't play country so I can't comment on that). I also have a TT800, and I think the D800+ has more lows/low mids and less mids/high mids, a quicker response and a better slap tone, if that matters to you. BTW, If you...

I've got a cool idea for a new Subway cab: My idea is a cab that looks like the Roland CUBE Street EX in the picture above, but with a flat top so you can put an amp on it. A cab like this can be perfect for home practice, small gigs/ big gigs when you just need a good sounding stage monitor...

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

I also think about ordering the footswitch. Does it need batteries to operate?

There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, many professional studios record bass this way.

NEW MESA TT 800 AMP. OH. MY. GOD.

I see a lot of people here want a Boogie channel only head, but the main reason I'm considering buying this amp is that it has two channels. I think there are many uses for two channels (OD/clean, vintage/modern, DB/EB, etc), and I hope to see more multi-channel bass amps from Mesa in the future.

Most of the time I keep mine between 8:00 and 9:00 (I usually use a Subway 210+115 or 210+2x115 stack).

    Another Ampeg vs. Mesa Thread

I own a Mesa D800+ and I absolutely love it. That's being said, it sounds to me like you prefer the "Ampeg signature tone". I have a kemper profiler and the Ampeg profiles sound very different than my D800+ no matter how I tweak it. Personally, I prefer the tone of my Mesa (which is darker and...

Yep, this is exactly like the Subway 210+115. The 115 gives heft to your tone and the 2x10 adds more punch and clarity.

I own 3 Subway cabs - 210 and 2x115, and the D800+ head. When I use 2 cabs I prefer the combination of 210+115 over 2x115. Don't get me wrong, 2x115 sounds great, but 210+115 gives my tone more "bite" and clarity which I really like.

I think the HPF and the bright switch are worth the higher price tag. I almost always use the HPF on my 800+ to some extent.

My D800+ and Subway 1x15 sounds great with any OD and distortion pedals.
