I used to own a Geddy Lee Jazz and my favorite strings for it were the GHS Boomers. I also had the Chrome flats on it and they were nice too. For me the Boomers just had a certain growl that worked with that bass. Invalid Link Removed

I believe he used an Ampeg SVT 8x10 live and an Ampeg B15 in the studio. Very underrated bassist. His bass line on The Cutter is a favorite of mine.

Chromes sound pretty bright to me but they do of course mellow after time. I currently use the La Bella 760FL set, as that gives me the nicest balance of thump, mids and not too much tension, but I also like the Fender flats. Here's a Invalid Link Removed that might help.
