So, I always love the look on P bass, been dreaming to own one. Before, I have Sire V7. Last year, I bought a Fender P. But, after making band and in a band situation, I rely on the V7 more, which is a Jazz type. She makes me create interesting bass lines more for my original material. I always consider myself as a P person. The question is, am I, deep down, without realizing it, more J person? Should I bought a Fender Jazz next? Lol

Or a Mark Hoppus signature, which is (reverse on the newer ones) P with a Jazz body

G&L Kiloton. The MFD pickup has also has a single coil setting that can get you close to a Jazz Bass "growl" but the heritage is far more PBass in style and pickup placement.
EDIT: I should add that the Tribute version as pictured also has a 1.5" nut width and similar neck profile to a Jazz Bass. It also comes in Olympic White w/Brazilian Cherry fret board.

Just keep buying Ps and Js. You'll eventually turn out to be a "both" person.
That pickup placement is a long way from a Precision... The Kiloton is a whole different beast, closer to a passive Stingray than P or J to my ears.
You get wise and buy a Musicman Stingray.

The pickup placement is in the "sweet spot" of the bass just as it is with a PBass.
It doesn't sound like a Sting Ray and played with only the single forward most coil it can get "close" to the basic tonality of a Jazz Bass. Close being the key word here.
It's not a PBass, A Jazz Bass, a P/J Bass or a Sting Ray and I agree it is very much it's own thing as IMHO all G&L Basses with MFD pickups are.
But the OP is thinking about a PBass that can provide at least some Jazz Bass tonality and IME a Kiloton can do that far easier that a typical PBass or a P/J Bass. The MFD pickup, it's placement, and it's electronics are the key. YMMV
You can order a US made model with a rosewood board and any neck profile and finish G&L offers.
The Tribute models however have far more limited options but another does come in Oly White with a dark Brazilian Cherry board.

Had a 2001 fender deluxe pbass a few years back. Life happened and I had to sell her. I regretted it ever since. Bought a Sire V7 natural right when they came out and absolutely loved it. Great quality bass for the price and sounds fantastic. That being said, I knew deep down I loved the body of a pbass, but really loved that bright sound of a jazz bass. Well this past December I did what any logical bass player would do in my situation (lol), and pulled the trigger on a champagne elite PJ. She is a tone machine and the best bass I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned various Fenders, custom shop Warwick, music man to name a few.
90% of the time, I pack a P bass, and either a fretless, or fretted Jazz. You need both.

If I could let me add just one more thing relative to this.
When I say "in the sweet spot" I mean based on body style and pickup type not a precise comparison by measurement. That wouldn't work with such vastly different pickups and electronics anyway.
The PBass split coil is placed to emphasize the fundamental which IMHO is what gives it it's signature tone. The MFD is placed a bit farther back where it captures some of a Jazz Basses harmonics especially in the parallel and single coil mode whereas the series mode moves you back more in the direction of a PBass and more fundamentals.
I'm not advising that it's the same as one or the other only that it's a very versatile one pickup passive bass that can cover some of the same ground as a PBass and Jazz Bass.

If that Sire is working for you dont fight it! You're a bass player, simple as that. 
I have always played a Jazz bass, probably for the last 30 years and never owned a P bass, I now only have a P bass and am using flatwound strings which I have never done before!
