I am pretty tight for cash and am grabbing some new electronics from stewmac and want to know which of the two sound better? Its for a P bass, so the selects are 24 bucks and the golden age ones are 45. Anybody know which sounds better? I haven't heard any tests with golden age pickups.

Gotohs are good machines. Fender uses them on their guitars. They even have custom shop stuff with gotoh tuners set up on them. Check stewmac for tuners and check the peghole size. all three are great machines but it may come down to peghole size. you can't go wrong with any of the three tuning...

heavier strings all the way. For 105s I use GHS bass boomers which I really like for some reason, but for anything heavier I use ernie balls. Personally I really GHS but if you like the Daddarios then get that.
