Class D amp head decides to go on walkabout whilst playing

I have a handle at the top rear of my cab, I've got one of those re-usable cable ties and cable tie the speaker output lead to the handle. Even works for the heaviest of rock.

    That Ampeg sound

Thanks for all the replies. I built the BAJA Ampeg style pre-amp from link below. Very pleased so far, played a rehearsal last night and sat well in the mix. Plugged it straight into the effects return on the Genz Shuttle. Guitar FX Layouts: Baja Ampeg SVT Bass Amplifier

    That Ampeg sound

I've got a Ampeg BA-108 practice amp that sounds great for practicing at home, I'm chasing that same tone on my gigging rig. I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 with a Barefaced 2x12 cab. It's very loud but lacks the character of the Ampeg. Seems to bark out the notes at volume rather than the Ampeg...

    10" replacement speaker (sealed)

Thanks for the suggestions. I've bought the parts for a new 1st order to lowpass the 3015LF at 750Hz. Still pondering the 10" driver, my amp is putting out 600watt at 4 ohm, I want to get something that can handle the power..not really sure if it matters as much if i'm filtering off alot of the...

    10" replacement speaker (sealed)

Hi I'm after any replacement speaker recommendations for a blown 10" mid driver in my cab. Currently I have a 15" Eminence 3015LF with a crossover to the 10" at 200Hz. The 10" is a sealed enclosure of 11.7 Litres. I'm looking for a 8 ohm replacement for the 10" Celestion BG10T-150 (don't...

    Speaker Replacement

Thanks Bill, Looks like www.audio-components.co.uk can sort me out with both the higher voltage rated cap and the inductor.

    Speaker Replacement

Thanks Bill, Greenboy, for your help on this one. I'll try the boost of the 125Hz, I was reluctant to boost anything low on the graphic due to past problems with the Delta 15-A but as you say, if the 3015LF can handle 8x more then I should not have a problem. Greenboy, is it right I can use...

    Speaker Replacement

The old setup was a Delta 15-A 8 Ohm with the Celestion BG10 T 150 8 ohm wired in parallel. There was a highpass/crossover pcb on the 10" pair which included a 100uF 100v non-polarising capacitor in series on the 10". The crossover was switched in from the back and was only used to optionally...

    Speaker Replacement

The sage continues on this, I've now managed to blow the replacement 100uF capacitor on the 10". It lasted 1 gig and half a practice. Replaced it and all OK but I've noticed that since I replaced the original 15" with the 3015LF the whole cab seems less "loud" and the 10" seems to be doing quite...

    Speaker Replacement

I've now fixed the problem, as Bill guessed it was the highpass capacitor to the 10 that had gone. All working lovely now, just got to give it a test now for a 35 min loud run at a gig. In the end I took out the tweeter crossover so now its just wired with a 15" and 10" in parallel with a 100uF...

    Speaker Replacement

You've made me wonder now whether I should fix the current highpass/crossover or try and improve on the cab using an off the shelf crossover?

    Speaker Replacement

I had a look a the way it's wired and the 15" speaker is wired direct to the input. The crossover is also wired directly to the input and has two outputs going to the 10" and the Tweeter.

    Speaker Replacement

Thanks Bill, I gave that a try with the 15" disconnected and there is nothing coming out of the 10". I messed with the tweeter switch on the back, the horn tweeter I could hear slightly but nothing from the 10".

    Speaker Replacement

Hi, I finally got round and bought the 3015LF. Cut the port down to tune the frequency to 42Hz. All looking good except I noticed now the 10" driver in the cab is not moving, took it out and tested it with a multimeter and all looks good, also tested it on my hi-fi at low volume, no probs with...
