Bass with bridge position pickup only, heavily overwind the pickup for more bass?

I have a G&L L2000. In the 90's, I experimented with lowering the Middle pickup and only using the bridge pickup. I hit the switch to make it series from parallel. It was pretty bassy and all with bass knob full up, but nothing like a straight P, or middle pickup. It poked through the mix...

Nominations a Fretless everyone is sleeping on --

+1 Gary Willis black bass +1 any G&L I'm interested in Sire cause they coat all their fingerboards ( as far as the reviewers say, even though a couple reviews don't have that Jaco/epoxy/roundwound sheen and brightness ).

    What bass is this?

Washburn B-20 Stage Series, or some variation? I'm looking at the 'squared' ends on the horn and headstock. P pickup is standard. Bridge should be a heavy brass old-school high-mass.

The Atelier Z Bass Owners Club

I feel your pain. My M265 has the high-mass bridge and active electronics and weighs 13.2 lbs. My Levy's 4.5" strap isn't enough; I'm saving up for a Duo-Strap.

    Imaginary basses you would like

    1. Black Rickenbacker 4001 with Leo Quan Badass bridge and Ric-O-Sound box and cords included - basically, one of Geddy Lee's old ones 2. Headless Ken Smith 5string with 15mm spacing or 6string with 14mm spacing 3. Steinberger L2 or XL2 or XL2/5 ( with narrow spacing ), but Torzal twisted. 4...

    Memorizing lyrics, any tips?

Write the lyrics down from memory AS you sing them. If you know the words, you can write them. But writing does help you to remember them under a little pressure. Also, if you LOVE the song, it's easier to memorize them. Much harder with music you feel 'meh' with. I know from my own experience.

Discontinued basses you'd like to see brought back.

Old Steinbergers with graphite body, narrow spaced 5-string and even a narrower spaced 6-string Yamaha BB5000 G&L L5000 Ibanez RB885

    Kiesel Aries A2

When I looked at the Bass pages, ALL the 5-strings are now 19mm. I used to think of the Icon and Vanquish as possibilities for me, when they were listed at 16.25mm and 17mm, respectively. I'm thinking of going all in on the $5k 6-string Dingwall-buster now...

    Converting 4 string to 5 - crazy?

Love this thread! Subscribed cause I want ideas to convert my 19mm spaced 5-string to narrow 6-string. Not trying to derail this thread; I've subbed to the '5-string-to-6-string-conversion' threads already. Peace

What's your oldest effect and do you still use it? :)

All from my high school prog band days 1984-1986; the Rat just stopped working ( I stepped on it and Nothing - no click from the button,so I'll get that fixed one of these days ), but the ADA works, and the Boss pedals are still on my board.

What was the most inspiring instrument you have ever played?

Back around 1989, I played a Vigier Passion 4 string in Manny's. It blew away the Fodera Monarch I tried just before. Both were through a SWR SM-400 through Goliath 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. That Vigier was incredible. Fast forward to just pre-Covid, I played a Muckelroy short-scale headless...

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

I actually won the cabinet in a Giveaway by Orange, for musicians who just needed a break. I didn't shop, but I'm 54, so a light, tweeterless cab is fine. And it sounds good.

This Orange 1×12 sounds good; has no tweeter. I don't play out, so it's as much as I need for my own enjoyment.
