That back mounted jack seems specifically aimed at YouTube guitar nerds that play seated in classical position, but I'd like to be proven wrong. Pickup switching ripped straight from Dingwall, even though a large portion of 3x owners upgrade to a 6-position switch.
Ugly shape and way overpriced options.
You want no truss rod cover? +$50
You want Dunlop Straplok buttons? +$30
Want 37" instead of 36"? Price is up from +$200 to +300
I spec'd out something pretty basic multi scale without fancy woods and it came out at over $3000. Considering the stories I've read about them messing up custom orders and how much of a really great dude Mr. Kiesel is, I'll pass.
I wholeheartedly agree with the first statement, and actually said to myself that I wouldn’t want to buy from that guy…but I just love their JB’s. They sound great and feel/play incredibly. I A/B’d one with a Deluxe Jazz V, and it just blew the Fender out of the water. And you can build a pretty nice one for about $2k.
The Icon is another one I like…but I don’t care for any of the newer stuff though.
Not sure how I fell about this one. Looks familiar but I just can't place it....

You can buy Straplok buttons for $10 a pair as a consumer. Surely Kiesel is getting bulk pricing, then offer either just buttons or buttons plus strap ends. They're going to install strap buttons anyway, so why the hell is it a $10 additional charge on top of an already inflated cost to the company? It's just gouging.Well to be fair, Dunlop straplocks will cost you $20 so you're basically paying them $10 to install them.
That's all I got
$50 to leave off the truss rod cover? Yeaaah. That's like buying a car and them saying 'the tires come inflated, but for $50 we will deflate them for you'.
And yet, again, only 19mm spacing. There are tons who like 18 and 17, so thanks, Keisel, for alienating a ton of players like me.
I missed that. All Kiesel 5-strings are 19mm spacing now? Guess I too won't GAS for them any more (that plus my distaste for Jeff Kiesel's online persona seal that deal for me). My 17mm spaced LTDs are PERFECT for me. 16.5mm is too narrow (my fingers feel cramped on a Soundgear), 19mm (I used to have a Carvin SB5000 with 19mm spacing) is too wide for me, I've never tried 18mm.
Still, credit where credit's due- Jeff Kiesel is a truly skilled finish artist. Basses that he's personally done finish work on look absolutely phenomenal.
It’s a Dingwall copy other than headstock and body.

Just saying, thats a pretty funny statement.
At that point you’re just quoting @RichSnyder out of context though, so at best it’s a contrivance.Yeah that was the point of omitting them. I dont disagree with the comment as a whole, that one line is just an objectively funny thing, to say something is a copy except for basically its entire physical design.
Coke is just like Orange juice except for the Taste and Texture
It’s all good. I might have taken it differently than intended. Communication exclusively via written words can often miss the intent.Maybe Im coming off as aggressive, but it was just a silly joke, not trying to make an argument lads.
