Has anyone used the Roth Flake Rattle Bomb? If so, how did the paint job turn out?

Lately, I've been thinking about painting a jazz bass in Aztec Gold or just gold using the rattle bomb gold kit.

Last year I custom built an explorer bass, and used Lil Daddy Roth rattle bombs. Couple coats of white primer, then a couple of Roth surfite silver, then 5 or 6 coats of Roth candy sublime green...
Happy with how it came out, but I would caution to be really careful with the sanding before applying clear coat. The transparent candy colors are extremely thin. Even doing 6 coats, doing light scuffing with 1,000 grit sandpaper, I burned through the candy line coats in a couple corners/edges.

Fun thread. I would love to see if a sunburst and flame maple can be done with a rattle can.

It was more of a silver flake over top the purple I think

But I’m a huge purple fan!

Anybody found a really good hard drying clearcoat? I’ve tried a couple of the water borne variants, but they didn’t dry any harder than Nitro IME. I’ve thought about Spraymax 2k, but the toxicity warnings are pretty daunting. I have a project approaching paint ready, and want to paint it British Racing Green. Any suggestions for the color and clear coats known to be compatible much appreciated.

As long as you have a protective respirator and gloves, you should be OK using Spraymax. I spray outside, so there's no chance of lingering fumes in an enclosed space. Dries hard and is ready for sanding/polish in about a week (or less, depending on who you ask). I've been using it over automotive paints as well Rust-Oleum with no issues.
