Has anyone used the Roth Flake Rattle Bomb? If so, how did the paint job turn out?

Lately, I've been thinking about painting a jazz bass in Aztec Gold or just gold using the rattle bomb gold kit.

Not a bass, but I painted some motorcycle tins with the Roth rattle bomb paint and it came out pretty good.

Going to call this a victory. Friend of mine gave me a pneumatic orbital. Well, I ended up buying this paint kit, the body of a Squire Classic Vibe 60's Jazz Bass, the neck of a Squier Affinity Active Jazz Bass, a high mass bridge, three CTS pots, an orange drop capacitor, and a Puretone jack, but this project turned out to be much more difficult than when I painted a Sire V5R that it was extremely easy to work with it.
I am not claiming victory yet because I haven´t finished assembling and setting up the Squier bass, more things could still go wrong.
Here are some photos of how this project is progressing.

What's the details - rattle can brand?, what colour? I can't tell from your progression of pics - did you start with another colour/primer?

I bought it on sale, and with shipping and taxes, it cost $82 dlls.

I didn´t use primer. I used 360 grit sandpaper, then 600 grit sandpaper after that I paint with the base coat, flake, and candy, wait one week to apply the 2k clear coat, wait another week for the clear coat to cure and then use 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000 grit sandpaper to level and smooth the surface. Next, I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, and finally, used Meguiar's Gold Class Carnuba Plus Wax.

It looks incredible in person, which doesn't translate well in photographs, once I finish putting it together, I hope to be able to take photos with better lighting and a better camera.

What brand if rattlecan color coat and 2k? Any compatibility problems with the 2K and color? I've read about about how toxic the 2K clearcoat is, but I want something that hard and durable on my current project, which will be British Racing Green rattlecan over maple. I do have some decent PPE including full-face respirator, tyvek suit, gloves, etc., and knock-down spray booth positively pressurized by box fans through HVAC filters, but I'm still nervous about the toxicity. How did you apply yours?

That's fine, no problem.

I have used several brands of paint without any issues with 2k clear, however, I always wait one week for the paint to cure before applying the 2k clear.

With the PPE you have and the pressurized cabin, that should be sufficient.

I used a half-face respirator with P100 cartridges for organic vapors, chemical goggles, nitrile gloves, long sleeves, and denim pants, and applied it in my backyard, which is completely open air

I checked the website, looks Like it's all glitter paints. I can get BRG from a number of sources, Duplicolor being the most readily available, and it's supposedly compatible with 2K, at least according to Youtuber Brad Angove, who has a bunch of tutorials on rattlecan guitar finishes. I think he did mention letting the duplicolor fully cure before applying 2K clearcoat. Nice job on the bass, BTW!

Not a full refin, but I matched the headstock for a build I just finished. Body is a Squier CV P in Oly White, and I used DupliColor Oly White for this. The color is very slightly off from the body, but it’s only noticeable in certain lighting. Replacement decal was sourced on Etsy.

Just ordered the paint for my next refin. Really excited about this one, and I hope I can pull it off. BMW Sepia II Metallic.

The plan was to make a candy red, so I used Rustoleum Metallic Gold, Rustoleum Gold Glitter, Duplicolor Metalcast Anodized Red, then 1000-grit sandpaper to remove just a little of the red color and make the gold glitter shine, and then I used Spraymax 2K Clearcoat.

Having used Rustoleum and the Roth Rattle Bomb Kit, I prefer Rustoleum glitter because it shines much more intensely than Rothmetalflake.

Anyone have any tips/tricks for spraying and polishing 2K rattle can clear? It looks like @miikee90 has a good method, but I'm starting a refin that I really want to make flawless with as little orange peel as possible.

Just finished color/clear on this one with the BMW Sepia II Metallic mentioned previously. It's not polished yet, but this is one of the coolest colors I've seen. It's hard to photograph, and it shifts in the sunlight between deep purple and gold. Can't wait to get it polished and reassembled this weekend.

Finally got this one reassembled today. This finish is very hard to photograph as the color shifts with movement, but it came out really nicely. BMW Sepia II Metallic with 2K clear.
