Everybody Loves to Ride the A Train

This is a piece I have been working on and editing through for a few days. It builds into what it becomes. Starts out with the intro to "Everybody Love's Raymond", and I connected the chord changes in being a little bit related to Take the A-Train's theme. So I go into that for a bit and then...

    Autumn Leaves (trio style)

Hello everyone, I don't expect many to like this. I do, very much actually. This is me on piano, bass, and drums: I first put together the piano track (this took time). I am not a pianist, so this was multiple tracks pieced together (the high notes, the low chords, and the middle)....it took...

    I've gone fretless!

Okay good to know. I am fretless now, and I only have one bass. I will live with it and really try to "hear" my instrument. I love the fretless, that is why I removed my frets. Will have to make the very best of it and strive to get good on it. Thanks man

    I've gone fretless!

Okay thanks for that. I will be working on the fundamentals, not with a physical teacher in-person, but with carefully selected youtube videos. I will be doing my best, I do wish to become as skilled as I can be. Then I will be able to really express what I already hear inside of me. I don't...

    I've gone fretless!

Interesting. I don't know what to say to this. I will be working on my fundamentals as I go along, but inbetween I need to record my music and ideas (whether good or bad), I have to. Intonation issues may have to do a little bit with the fact that my strings are 11 years old. New strings...

Miles Davis "style" Jazz Quartet Instrumental

I borrowed some inspiration from Miles Davis and used it as a foundation for this piece of music. I put thought and some time into this. Many parts to make this. I used some royalty free horn samples I found that seemed to work perfectly for what I was building. So I am on the fretless bass...

    I've gone fretless!

I just ask you to listen to this. This was not rushed, it was thought out unlike some of my other stuff. It has a very Miles Davis "feel" to it deliberately. I took a Miles phrase on piano and kind of used it as the "foundation" of this quartet instrumental. I wanted that 1960's jazz feel...

    I've gone fretless!

Nah man, you didn't burst my bubble. No good bass player was born overnight. I know it takes work, and lots of it. I was watching a recent Ron Carter interview the other day. And even him at 84, he still practices his scales. He plays his bass for about an hour each day spending some of that...

    Just gone fretless...here's a clip

Been loving my fretless. First day, and it is literally changing the way I see and hear the instrument.

    I've gone fretless!

Wanted to give you guys a good sound sample of my bass. I love it! I am in love. First and for most, having a ton of fun. I am hearing the instrument in ways I never did before, and it is opening up worlds for me! In this video I am getting some fat upright tone, really good tone to my ear...

    I've gone fretless!

Is it true that the best foundation and everything after comes from solid walking bass lines? I mean, id this where phrasing comes from? I have another one, I tried to keep that groove, not perfect. Definitely at times has that "upright feel" for sure. I made up my own walking bass line (it...

    I've gone fretless!

So here is my very first fretless exploration! So much fun, so much to do....it is going to continue to evolve into my music. This is a long open jam, added some soft piano and drums in the background. Well, I hope you enjoy the sounds, I sure am! More to come, much more. So cool!

    I've gone fretless!

No I didn't. Still some glue that I couldn't sand off the fretboard, but it is smooth as a baby's bottom. I rubbed lemon oil into the board really well.
