I'm considering ordering a P/J 5 string, hopefully before Roger retires. Any opinions on which fret combo has the best "symmetry" or when Roger is stepping down??
Weight aside, most also aren't particularly balanced. That being said, the Rob Allen Mouse 30 is a feather, fun as heck to play, does great in dropped d even as a short scale, and fits in a guitar bag/case.
Very tragic one was damaged. I'm still slightly sad that the archtops line was discontinued. It's almost too easy to get a pleasing jazz tone.
The unplugged tone is a little quirky. Small, maple, and TI flats. I'd imagine the SS17 has more umph with the bigger body.
I still have a acoustic...
I'm fortunate to own this. All I can say about this guitar is WOW!!!
I have been a boutique guy for about 20 years now. Most of it is KNOWING your desired specs inside and out as well as knowing how to approach that particular guitar or bass. The "tone is in the fingers" guys are the first...
Burgundy mist metallic. I had 2. I could never get mine to play great. I now have a setup guy who would have figured out what I missed.
I think only the Tony Franklin has "balanced" P/J pickups by having a hot J and an underwound P pickup. To compensate, I boost a little bass and mid with the...
Cliff Bordwell has built some 7 strings. I had a nice 32" scale fretless 7 for a few years. Slightly big for my VERY small hands. Sounded and the weight was very reasonable. You can see it in the gallery page. Gallery of basses-1 - CB Basses
Yeah, a small shindig in Texas. About a dozen luthiers, Gareth Pearson, and a bunch of guitar people. Lots of stories. Ray Kraut, another Somogyi apprentice was there and had a ton of wild and wacky stories about his mentor.
I'm happy a majority of votes were neutral. There used to be the old dudes who might imply or directly say that anyone who owns a 6 string bass will NEVER work in their town!!!1111
Also, what's with everyone saying what Jaco would definitively use? He died before a lot of stuff was available. I...
100% Some hype people must be pushing for very limited edition status for sales. It is hard to believe Ned would make something great and destroy the CF mold.
If the preamp is dead, it's worth upgrading to a system with better mids. I'm still kicking myself for not buying extra Millennium preamps. If you set the EQ flat, I'm sure most preamps are fine. Also kicking myself for not ordering a nice fretted and fretless 6 string Cirrus........
