    Custom neck makers

Since this is cosmetic and not functional, would it be acceptable to cut a 1/4" strip of veneer and glue it on the back instead before adding satin clearcoat?

    Custom neck makers

Ok, so rout a 1/8" deep, 1/4" wide ditch down the middle of the neck? Ok then, sounds simple enough. Guess I'll just have to find a wood shop that will let me use a milling device on the cheap (it's not economical or practical for me to buy one myself right now) Any advice for making the...

    Custom neck makers

I'm in the market for a few bass necks, so I went to Warmoth to order some customs. Unfortunately, they offer all my requirements except for the skunk stripe on the back. What are some other online custom neck makers that do licensed fender headstock necks that could offer this too? Kinda...

    SpasticStudios' Massive Bass Cerusing Undertaking

This is essentially a rinse and repeat my last post, but here you go anyway: Mixed pigment into 3 separate 4 oz jars of colortone filler, smeared the filler on top and let dry, wiped off excess with paper towels and q-tips. Caked it on a little thicker than last time so it took even longer...

    Bridge spacing question

Just realized the pickups i plan on using are rails. Does spacing even matter in this case?

    Bridge spacing question

I'm thinking of doing another build soon, a Rickenbacker-imitation type. I tend to go for Gotoh 201 type bridges, can anyone tell me if the spacing for those is compatible with Rickenbacker pickups?

    SpasticStudios' Massive Bass Cerusing Undertaking

Okay, today was the day for playing with grain filler. Took some ColorTone neutral tinted filler and just left it untinted for a white look. Also serves the dual purpose of letting me use the leftover mix for another color, haha. Anyway, spackled it onto all sides of the first body and let...

    SpasticStudios' Massive Bass Cerusing Undertaking

Ok, here's my first photo update. Applied 3 coats of the onyx wipe stain, sanded down places that somehow got runs with 400 grit paper, then touched up. Noticed that the grain relief doesn't seems as strong as it did on my sample woods, so I only applied one coat of GF High Performance Poly as...

    SpasticStudios' Massive Bass Cerusing Undertaking

Well, time has come for me to have more basses in my arsenal. Got by for the longest time with just a Yamaha RBX, and added a transparent Fender Dimension Bass in a year and a half ago. But as well all know, it's never enough! At the very least, I figured I needed some classics. The P Bass...

How many basses do you own? (Currently) Part 2

Truth be told, for the Warmoths I've only bought the parts so far. I plan to start the painting process sometime late next week. For sure I'll be documenting and posting the process on here.

    Help me with color choice

I'll be making another thread after the poll closes detailing the process and showing the progress of all 4 bodies being done at the same time. I'm excited to see how this all turns out. Just keep the votes coming.

    Help me with color choice

Wire brush. Took me 2-3 hours for each body. Although I'm starting to wonder if I need to go over them again with a sandblaster because somehow the relief isn't as noticeable as it was on my test pieces.
