    NBD Peavey T-40

My first was this bass exactly! I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. The picture is from a high school concert. Sold it for a >13lb 70s Fender Precision fretless. I guess I didn't know there were lighter basses. I still have the fender but its been awhile since I pulled a 4-hour gig on it.

Taylor AB acoustic bass guitars (ABG) megathread

Tobacco burst. I bought it used in 2001. Previous owner was in a top 10 country band. He got it from the Taylor factory, but already had one with some customization. He played this one a few hours at home. So he was about to list this one for sale but I got wind of it early. I had a luthier...

    SOLD Taylor AB3 acoustic bass

Buy with confidence! The small gap between the end of the bridge and body is common for these basses. (Some previous posts by others on TB) Mine had it, I bought it barely used. Immediately took it to a very respected tech. Said he contacted Taylor and agreed with them that it was NOT a...

Tough songs to sing and play

Alright, singing bassists. What are/were the most challenging songs for you to sing while playing? Did you give up on any? If not, how did you master them?

Say You Love Me by Fleetwood Mac

My old band did a few Fleetwood Mac tunes including Say You Love Me. I was one of our 4 singers who took turns on lead and harmonies. I always loved listening to or performing that song. Cool groove especially while singing.

Taylor AB acoustic bass guitars (ABG) megathread

I've played my AB-4 since 2001. All my jazz gigs (I'm not great on upright) and gigs that include pre-60s pop, rock or country. I use tapewounds. Always get compliments on the sound and get some gigs just because the singer loves that bass. I recently started using the LR Baggs Voiceprint DI...

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

I'm considering running both Cali76 CB and my new Empress BC. I might try the Empress sidechained from the kick and the Cali just smoothing my peaks. The drummer and I perform studio tight so ducking under the kick in real time is a possibility for us. Any thoughts on this application?

    The Pedulla Club!

I've had several performances where I got lost on the fingerboard doing octave+ position jumps while singing. Usually depends on the stage lighting. Often can't see any dots at all. Has anyone had their dots replaced for better visibility? By someone other than the builder?

Stories about playing three shows, in one day, at three different venues

I remember a particular 3fer. Bluegrass festival noonish. Blues band at a backyard wedding reception in the late afternoon. Then country band at a club about 1/2 hour away. The last two were close enough timing I had to eat my hamburger and change out of my tux into cowboy boots and jeans while...

    The Pedulla Club!

I totally agree! At least from my experience. The day I bought my first (Thunderbass), I played every high end bass in Dallas. That neck totally smoked every other bass. Also, the B string sounded so pure and consistent with the other strings. Other basses at the time (late 90s) had wimpy Bs. I...

Why it's also known as a 'doghouse' bass

Play now! You might get it to growl.

    Club Sadowsky!!!

I started in 7th grade on my brother-in-law's '60s Fender Jazz. Had a really smooth neck and fingerboard. I followed that with my own Peavy T40. Definitely wished for that Jazz ever since.
