I hear you, its more the fact it's the compression, drive and boost as opposed to obsessing over tone. No good playing Lemmy/Foxton style bass when you have a Motown sound FOH :)

Thanks I do have a head and a SansAmp DI - the issue is they want to use the DI to control the cab, not just the FOH and FB.
