help guys, sansamp bass driver di

I think the idea is to go directly to the sound board without an amp (sans = without). I've used one at a church gig direct to the board. Gives you more control over your tone than just the sound guy. Works pretty well but can't top the Mesa M6 I have. I tried it with the M6 but found it to be...

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 14

I finally made it onto a WT. It took more time than I thought, but it's still good. We play only a mens group Bible study once a week but that's enough to keep me focused. Doing pretty much standard CCM, there are 3 sometimes 4 guitars, one acoustic, 2 of them also do vocals. Occasionally we...

    NBD - Fender P

They look normal to me. I think the PUs are supposed to follow the curve of the fretboard. You can probably tweak the adjustment with the end screws. Nice pair of basses. Best Regards, sterling4

    Is series/parallel J bass a good idea???

I have an '07 Jazz with the S-1, and it does exactly what it's designed to do. I don't use it much, but the P sound isn't bad at all IMO. It definitely makes a difference in a Jazz Bass. I think the unpopularity comes from the switch's less than ideal build quality than its' function. I've...

    Fender-years to avoid?

I have to agree with sevenyearsdown. I have an '07 Jazz that is just excellent, S-1 or not. To me it's a solid, reliable, great-sounding "working-mans" instrument. It's not a Fodera, sure, but it's one of the best Fenders I've owned since 1966. sterling4

    Fender "S" switch...what years?

I have an '07 Jazz Bass with the S-1 switch. I believe that was the last year for it. I rarely use the switch, and could take it out and not miss it. It's a great J-Bass, that's why I got it. Best Rregards, sterling4

I've heard this advice, too, Rudy. And I heard it right here. We're gonna stay at the one church for the foreseeable future and hope for the best. Pray a lot, too! Best To All, sterling4

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 7

Hello All, Well, we did a little "church shopping" a while back. But my wife and I have been loners for some time. We have no family, parents all gone, and we've got a couple of friends here who we don't want to abandon. We're in a home fellowship, too, and don't want to let that go. We've...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 7

That's great to hear, Mark. I got a Sansamp for the church, too. If I ever get there! The bass player now brings his big ol' Ampeg but plugs in and uses his amp as a monitor. Best sterling4

Why, that's very kind, 9mmMike, and very much appreciated! I'll certainly do that (stick around, that is!). If God wants me on a W.T., I'm sure it'll happen. I still have Talkbass and plenty of music to listen to and practice with, and a very supportive wife, to boot! Best to You All, sterling4

Mesa Walkabout vs. M6 Carbine 2x12" combo

Worldeeeter, I don't think you'll regret an M6 combo purchase at all. It's a brutal amp that delivers every time. I use a sterling 4 H-S with the switch at both singles and an Am Series Jazz with CS 60s and the M6 just smokes. A hot, sizzling, driving, bass and LOUD!!! Good Luck! sterling4

Mesa Walkabout vs. M6 Carbine 2x12" combo

I have to agree with KJung, too. Because of that, I ended up with an M6 combo. Mesa has just introduced an M3 (300 watts) that you may want to check out vs. the Walkabout. It should be much less expensive and small enough to be actually portable. The M6 combo is well over 100lb and can be tough...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 7

Well said, PilbaraBass, I'm going out of my way to avoid a confrontation with our W.L. I don't want a war over a spot in the W.T., after all! It seems totally bizarre to me, as well. The fact that I don't get it is part of the problem. I wish he'd just come up and say something so I could just...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 7

Hello All, It really is discouraging to see this sort of thing in a theocratic environment. In the corporate world, maybe so, but not in a church. My poor wife is especially distraught as it seems so obvious. I actually auditioned for a bit with the W.L. and he gave no clue as to why I (or...

The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 7

Hello Everyone, Well, a while ago I thought I'd be part of this club, but after a couple of years at the church, it's quite clear that I will never play with any W.T. here. It's become very obvious that nepotism and politics are far more important to the W.L. than anything else. Anyway, it's...
