Got me new American Standard P yesterday. Here is a pic of it next to its slighty older brother.

Pickups are normal, to achieve the best balance between strings, so have to tilt them like that most of the time.

They look normal to me. I think the PUs are supposed to follow the curve of the fretboard. You can probably tweak the adjustment with the end screws. Nice pair of basses.

I usually play right behind the second coil. You could also try lowering them although output will be lessened.

Congratulations! Taking it for a pro setup will only enhance your playing pleasure. A good set up is important.

Having them slanted a bit is normal. I think you could lower the high sides a bit though without sacrificing tone. They seem a bit exaggerated to me. They're real easy to adjust though. Just experiment with the height a bit until you find your preference.
