Basically if you're not happy with how the vocals sound before you start editing, you probably won't be happy after; prevention easier than cure etc etc.

Sometimes a touch of reverb helps mask the missed notes, but if I'm ever not happy with how something sounds, I'd rather get it as close to what I want as I can during the recording process than try and fix it afterwards.
