Ibanez GSR200 PJ to P Bass Wiring Mod

Sorry for the late reply, Ive done it ands all gone well. PLEASE NOTE both the images I edited above are incorrect. All I've actually done is connect the green and yellow wires to bypass the eq, disconnected the bridge pick up and battery and (as Crater said) connected to the tip not the ring...

Should I wire it like this?

Ibanez GSR200 PJ to P Bass Wiring Mod

I'm considering converting my pj bass to a p bass. Soldering won't be necessary for this, I just need to cut and reconnect a few existing wires in terminal blocks and snip off any unneeded wires. A PJ bass with the J turned down doesn't quite sound like a regular P bass because its wired...

    BEAD Ibanez GSR200 Setup Questions

I'm considering setting up my ibanez gsr200 to bead tuning. I want to use the heaviest 4-strings from the exl165-5 set 65,85,105,135 as theyre the same overall tension as my current exl170 set so it won't affect the neck. I'll have to file the nut slots which I haven't done before but if I take...

Practicing/Writing with Guitarist - Advice Wanted

Right, I've misunderstood the use of scales, it's chord patterns and progressions I need to be primarily focused on. What did you mean by a lot of metal not being diatonic?

Practicing/Writing with Guitarist - Advice Wanted

The songs chord progression is I-IV-V but the chords in the song don't follow that progression... Wut?

Practicing/Writing with Guitarist - Advice Wanted

We nee Thanks, that's really helpful, I understand how the chord progression works with a groove or bass lines such as the 12 bar blues, I get that but when someone says a song is i-v-iv-i for example, am I to assume there are only 3 chords and 1 progression throughout the whole song? That's...

Practicing/Writing with Guitarist - Advice Wanted

OK so taking puppets as our example, what is the chord progression for that song? Is it just all of them?

Practicing/Writing with Guitarist - Advice Wanted

OK thanks. Excuse my ignorance but do all songs have a chord progression? I understand what they are but Im struggling to recognise them in any of the metal songs I've been practicing and I don't take them into account when writing, I stick to E and play notes from the locrian 2 mode. Does...

Practicing/Writing with Guitarist - Advice Wanted

I've been teaching myself metal bass and sometimes I practice with my drummer friend. I just improvise with familiar scales and patterns, my drummer follows my lead and sometimes we get into a decent groove, other times I get a block and resort to playing songs I've been learning. I enjoy it and...

Would a .120 be a problem on my Ibanez GSR200?

So are the saddles identical? I assumed the grooves vary in diameter in relation to the string. Filing the nut won't affect string height will it? I'm tuning to D#G#C#F#, I know 120 sounds a bit much for that but its actually the lowest tension string of the set.

Would a .120 be a problem on my Ibanez GSR200?

I'm interested in getting d'addarios balanced medium string 120/90/67/50 for my Ibanez GSR200. My stock strings are 100/80/65/45 and I was wondering whether the 120 would sit properly over the groove in the saddle and whether the nut would need filing? Has anybody tried a .120 on a GSR?

    Thrash Metal Picking Technique

I've been practicing thrash metal and I've noticed some thrash metal bassists rarely (if ever) use palm muting. My problem is that when I'm picking open 4th string notes at a fast tempo the sustain of all those notes overlapping creates an unwanted muddy background noise. How do they tackle...
