    Is it a gig or a show? If it's a gig, is it at a club or a divebar? Is your stage footprint the size of a drumkit or postage stamp? Just bring the 5 and keep a 4 in reserve.

    As I'm the 'sound engineer' as well, I have a separate gig bag for bass only gigs and rehearsals , and a big ass box with a furniture dolly for the pa gear.

    What is it with people not calling gigs due to rain?

    I have an ATV cover I can deploy in 30 seconds or so that will cover my rig and basses. Compacts into a small bag. Money well spent. Gigging in S Fl, the band has become quite adept at getting the gear covered quickly. There may be sunny skies here, but sudden squalls 10 miles away.

    Replace active with active?

    Hi, I have a Fender 5 deluxe jbass with a kubiki active circuitry that was disabled a couple years ago and is only passive. I've noticed that the bass lacks punch, so I want to replace the pups and pots. Any suggestions on the most cost effective way to do so with this particular bass?

    Does anybody bash Steve Harris (iron Maiden) or John Myung (Dream Theater)? Anybody heard Opeth or Porcupine Tree? No real guit shredding, every note counts...Opeth has some growling, but also some melodic singing...Martin Mendez plays a jbass finger style in concert...

    No offense, I just play in dive bars, but unless I'm in a tribute band, I don't worry about getting the original tone so much.
