Which bass are you getting next?

Even if there'd be no doubt was it a beauty competition the weathered black Ibanez Mikro would win by miles, this video demo had me in serrious doubts weather maybe to invest in a green Jackson Minion instead as my next bass:

This would push my purcase forward from beginning of December to beginning of November, beside that I think, at least from stock and in my personal opinion, that the Jackson Minion seems to have a tone adavantage over the Ibanez Mikro. Even the J pickup soloed seems viable on the Minion.

What speaks against the Jackson in my book, beside the looks, is the jumbo frets vs. the Mikro's medium frets, something that likely would make the Minion more umcomfortable to play for me personally.

The graphite rods in the reinforced neck of the Jackson speaks in it's favor though.

Otherwise they seem to share about the same specs and features as well as price point.

I think my next new bass will be a 2013 American Standard P-bass that has somehow made it through 4 years of 60% discounts at my local music store. Been hanging there for 4 years.

Last year at their big blowout sale I picked up a new 2015 American Standards Jazz for about $850. Tempted to do the same with the P-Bass.
They have some American Prof. models that might see only slightly more modest discounts too.

Had second thought yet once again, and have now decided that I will be getting the now discontinued ESP LTD B-4 JR, from a store that still got some left in stock.

It's sub short scale bass as well, like the Mikro and Minion bass, but features 24 frets, also I plan some mods to it.

i'm always looking for the next one (TB = heroin). i envy/love/lust/want what everyone else envies/loves/lusts/wants until i see the prices. scary stuff sometimes --- so: i think my next instrument will probably have to be free (but should also be black, a PJ, fretless maple neck, under 5 lbs.) ...or it just won't happen. :laugh:

i actually have a parts build waiting to be completed: i have all of the parts --- but they've been waiting for me since last spring.

so in the meantime, while they're waiting: i imagine getting a cheap fretless rondo beatle bass for piccolo use. but so far it's just in my imagination. :)

I own a Rockbass Alien Deluxe 6. It is quite enjoyable to play. It's handy to pick up if I have a sudden idea to attempt. It actually keeps up if you have a few friends playing acoustic guitars. Not loud enough for an acoustic performance, but sufficient for a jam/practice.

I currently have a new build fully paid in the queue at FBass. It will be a VF6-PJ Fretless in Lake Placid Blue with a Tort pick guard. (A Fretless, 6-string version of this one.) My build had been pushed back so FBass could focus on their NAMM builds. However, this has become a positive because George himself will be building my bass, as opposed to the team.
