I play a 4001 MG Ric, however my bass player in my band has a 1986 5 string PRS very rare handmade bass, 4 pups 3 in front and one in the back of the axe, 5 way varitone and coil tap active electronics. WOW!
I would recommend peavey Black widows the reasons are 1. they sound great and are very strudy and 2. they can be easily rebuilt by replacing the basket/cones assemblies for under 80 bucks. I aslo use them in my PA cabs with 1200 watt amps they are very hard to blow out.
You can go on to You tube for tempus fugit or get a copy of video call starlicks Chris Squire he shows and explains the instrument In detail. its actually quite a nice instrument with its built in effects.
You guys all have beautiful Rics I think there are one of the best manufactured instruments for the $$ I am a proud owner of a 1982 4001 MG with black pickguards and Seymour duncan pups. will post photo later
